Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)
With the ESA program, the money that would pay for that student’s education in a neighborhood school follows that student to whichever school the parents choose for their child
*You cannot receive both ESA and STO in the same school year!
You will need your student’s birth certificate, proof of residency in the applicant’s (parent/guardian) name, a valid Arizona ID, and the last four digits of the applicant’s social security number.
Renewing contract for 2026-27
Key Dates & Process:
May 1 - The Department sends renewal contracts to eligible parents.
June 30 - The deadline for parents to submit the signed renewal contract.
Within 30 Days: The Department notifies parents of the contract's renewal.
How to Prepare:
- Check your email: Look for official communications from the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) or the ESA portal around May.
- Confirm Eligibility: Ensure you still meet residency and other program requirements, as these are verified during renewal.
- Submit Promptly: Return the signed contract by the June 30th deadline to avoid losing funding access.

**Families who miss the 1st round application deadline will pay the full tuition rate for the first 3 months of the school year.**
Scholarship applications require enrollment in SFdA School, your 2025 Tax Information and an application fee paid to FACTS.
Institute for Better Education (IBE)

- Financial Need Based Scholarships: Applications are due June 1, 2026.
The IBE scholarship committee determines eligibility based on the financial information that you provide. - PLUS Scholarships: Applications are due June 1, 2026.
You are eligible for PLUS if you have a new KINDERGARTEN student, a student transferring from an Arizona Public or charter school after at least 90 days of attendance, have previously received a Corporate or PLUS scholarship or have an Active US Armed Forces dependent. - Recommended Funds: New application required each school year to receive Recommended Funds.
Arizona State tax-payers are allowed to “Recommend” that a student receives the tax credit that they pay to the state.
Arizona Leadership Foundation (ALF)
The 2026/2027 Application Period will be open from April 15 – June 17, 2026
You are eligible for this scholarship if your child(ren) are a new student that is transferring from a public or charter school or entering KINDERGARTEN. Your 2024 Tax information is required to apply.
Once your child(ren) receives this scholarship, you can apply every year.
Arizona Tuition Connection (ATC)

- Applications are open February 10 - May 8, 2026.
- No fee to apply; 2.5 GPA requirement; low-income and must qualify for free or reduced lunch to apply
